[SJ 272] INTRODUCTION OF SENATE BILLS

Sen. Sanborn offered the following resolution:

Resolved, that in accordance with the list in the possession of the clerk, Senate Bills numbered 241 through 256 shall be by this resolution read a first and second time by the therein listed titles, laid on the table for printing and referred to the therein designated committees.

[SJ 338] SB 243, permitting the use of recording devices in public meetings. Ought to pass. Sen. Lamontagne for the Committee on Judiciary.

Sen. LAMONTAGNE: Mr. President, this bill permits the use of recording devices including tape recorders, cameras, etc. . . by any person at a public meeting subject to the right to know law. Many members of the press appeared in favor of this bill.

Adopted. Ordered to third reading.

Downing moved that the Senate adjourn from the early session, that the business of the late session be in order at the present time, that the reading of bills ordered to third reading be read a third time by this resolution, and that all titles be the same as adopted, and that they be passed at the present time; and that when we adjourn, we adjourn until Thursday at 11 a.m.

Allows use of various recording devices in public meetings of governmental bodies, subject to right-to-know law. No opposition.

French moved that the House now adjourn from the early session, that the business of the late session be in order at the present time, that the reading of bills be by title only and that all bills ordered to third reading be read a third time by this resolution, and that all titles of bills be the same as adopted, and that they be passed at the present time, and when the House adjourns today it be in honor of Rep. Goodrich's 50th anniversary as a graduate nurse, to meet tomorrow at 12:30 o'c|ock.
